Bromsgrove's ancient church set to be lit up

09 October 2018

Friends of St John's have been working on a project to install external lighting on Bromsgrove's Parish Church with the help from GTAccess.

Local electrical contractors Woliters arrived at the church to begin the installation project which is being made safer and more efficient because of our (GTAccesses) donation of a Niftylift HR15 articulated boom lift.

Friends Chairman Jo Slade said "We are hugely grateful to the team at GTAccess. The majority of the lights are being fitted from the side aisle roofs and the cherry picker is an essential part of the project for ease and safety."

The project will see the church building, the tower and the spire lit up at night. Additionally the spire will have colour changing LED lights fitted to its base which will be used to illuminate the spire in different colours for specific events and celebrations. The Friends group hope that the external lighting will raise the profile of the building and ensure the church becomes a focal point in Bromsgrove.

The installation work will continue through October and the Friends are organising a "Big Light Up" switch on ceremony on Tuesday 30th October at 6pm. Everyone is welcome to come along to St John's to see the big church light up!
