Nathan Smith helps transform GTAccess buildings through colourful artwork

Graffiti and street art share a colourful and complex history. Art on walls started with cavemen and nowadays street artwork is displayed in public spaces such as surrounding buildings, on streets, trains and other publicly viewed surfaces. GTAccess wanted to embrace street arts rich history by having graffiti art added to our Head Office and Training centre.

Jo Till, Director, explains how GTAccess had the work commissioned:

“When we purchased the old badge factory, we thought that the grey wall looked bare and needed brightening up.

I put an appeal out on Facebook for a graffiti artist but didn’t get a response from it. Then I saw what Nathan had done with the bus stops on the Stoke Prior Network group on Facebook and contacted him”

Nathan’s previous work demonstrates a no limit approach to street art. Nathan was given free rein to transform the grey wall on our Bromsgrove training site and on the cladding at our Head Office. With the bold designs standing out compared to the surrounding buildings, it attracts passers-by to look and find out more about his creations.

An enthusiastic, self-taught artist, Nathan seized his opportunity to turn his hobby into a thriving business after he was made redundant by Severn Trent Water when the pandemic hit. He is planning on expanding and going further afield to Leicester, Liverpool and London.

GTAccess aims to support local educations, businesses and artists as we believe in empowering and inspiring the next generation of creatives.
