GTAccess have been crowned the winner of the ‘Family Business of the Year’ at this years Birmingham Business Excellence Awards.
The Birmingham Business Excellence Awards aim to celebrate success, recognise achievement and highlight the innovative people and companies throughout Birmingham who are putting their region on the map by boosting the economy while making a positive contribution to the local community.
GTAccess started life nearly 40 years ago as a small, family run, electrical contracting company and is now the 5th largest independent powered access rental company in the UK.
Originally known as Geoff Till Electrical Contractors (GTE) the company needed access equipment to help with electrical installations. Hiring access platforms in those early days was difficult, so GTE purchased their own - later starting a rental division in 1990. Fast forward to today and GTAccess now operates from 8 locations across the Midlands, South East and Wales. The Company is now run by the founders son Jonathan Till together with his wife and fellow director Jo-Anne Till. Other members of the family are also involved within the business.
Jonathan Till, Managing Director at GTAccess commented “I feel so proud of everyone at GTAccess, its down to their commitment and hard work that we have won this award. We believe we get the best out of our staff by thinking of them as an extended family rather than just employees. We have an excellent retention rate – In 2013 we only employed 19 people, today 14 of those still work for us and 2 of them that left did so due to retirement”
